So when they were good....
Doesn't really matter if you start pulling for them when they were good or bad as long as you continue to pull for them.

That's stupid reasoning if you can only begin to cheer for a team when they are bad. Bandwagon thinking at it's finest.

I gotcha. But I'm an Indians fan. It is literally impossible for me to be a bandwagon fan.

Yeah but be wary of thinking you're somehow better than other fans because you're a fan of a bad team.

I'd assume as a true fan like yourself you have MLB.tv so you can watch your out of market team as well.

Born and raised in upstate NY. Older brother and cousins were Yankee fans and I had to be different. I went with the Red Sox out of spite at a very young age. In Nashville now and no local pro ball team.

I put this in the other thread
quote:

Well my dad grew up in New York but his family were ny giants fans. When they got stabbed in the back my dad was left teamless, he decided to root for the Red Sox bc it was the first WS he remembers, plus he didn't like cheering for front runners like the Yankees. He turned into a huge fan, and passed that fanship on to his family. Thus Go Red Sox and frick the Yankees.

Meh. That roof stays closed from about June onwards. Houston has been the world's most air conditioned city since the 1950s for a reason.

I have been to 5 games in the new stadium although 3 of them were in the early Enron years. All 5 of those games the roof was open at least part of the game. Have not been to Houston in about 4 years though, so not sure what the policy is now.

FWIW the roof is open right now and the Astros are getting clobbering by the A's 8-0 in the 5th.

I know your joking but for reals Yankee fans are 85% trash that will start a fight with you. I hope you spent a little extra for good seats. It's worth it to no be near trash.

Cool place.

I've got a bunch of family in the Albany and coopertown area. I generally despise upstate Ny, but lake George and Saratoga are legit.

When I grew up, we had maybe (10) cable channels. One of them was WGN outa Chicago. Since the Cubs only played day games back then, every game they played started at 3:00. So, since I loved baseball, when I came home from school, the Cubs were on TV.

Nothing better than watching some old school Cubs with Hary Carey announcing the game.

Yeah. I love where I'm from but only for about 2 weeks out of the year. Would never live up there again. Not full time anyway. Beautiful part of the country though. Seems like everything stopped up there in the mid 80s and they're stuck there. Weird

In no way do I think I'm better because I pull for a bad team. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for the day the Indians go all the way.

I do not, but I follow the gamecast on espn and have 3rd, 6th, & 9th inning updates sent to my phone.

hbt does what the frick he wants to do and i just happen to like the red sox. It probably came from baseball games when little i loved playing the games at fenway with the monster. I also hate most new york teams so going for boston teams works nicely

outside of boston i pick other mlb teams off of players they have and styles.

I moved to St. Louis and lived there for two years - through the big years of Mark McGruire. It didn't hurt that the company I worked for owned a box and I got to go about 10 times a year on their dime. I still went myself quite a bit too.

Anyway, made me a huge Cards fan. I do a baseball trip once per year now. Last year I saw the Cards, White Sox, and Brewers all in a span of 4 days. It was awesome - nothing but Beer & Brats. The Sox fans were the best - I loved the way they yelled insults at the other team and the umps. Oh, and I got to see Josh Hamilton knock one out of the park too. So, the White Sox would be my next favorite - mainly due to the fans and the Bham Barons.

When I was 8 or 9, we got cable TV in Kenner (New Orleans suburb). Would have been around 1977-78 or so. Braves and Cubs were on every day back then. My best friend and I grew up watching both teams; he was a Cubs fan, I took the Braves.

Biff Pocoroba, Bob Horner, Rick Mahler, the Murph, Claudell Washington, Jeff Blauser, and on and on...

Have been a Braves guy ever since, but I don't follow baseball nearly as much as I used to.

Not a really a baseball fan. Loved playing it but watching it is damn boring. I can watch it and enjoy the post season but that's it. I do like watching dominant pitching.
