List some words and phrases that might seem like a foreign language to yankees and English speaking foreigners.

1. Fixin' to.......means you're about to do something. I'm fixin' to bust your arse if you don't shut up!

2. Over yonder.....means, not here, but at a different location. I like that fruit stand over yonder at Tillman's Corner.

3. I reckon.....means I suppose or I think. I reckon that tree stump's been there 30 years.

4. Gumption.....means one has courage. Boldness. It take a lot of gumption to wear that tacky hat in public.

5. Mosey......means to leave or to go. Well, I guess it's time I mosey on back to the house.

6. Swig......means to drink rapidly. That boy can swig a beer faster than anybody I've ever seen!

Y'all know any more?

Hold your horses

Means wait a minute. Don't be in a rush.

A hill o beans

Hmmmm....not sure how to define this, even though I know the phrase.

quote:

A hankerin

Means a desire to do something.

A ways - a distance down the road or river a bit and only a southern knows how far it is

A mess as in a mess of fish - a quantity only known by a southerner

When dating, your holler or mine may be the pick up line but lets be real, your holler probably does not include a daddy with shotgun in hand.

Yat?

Could be "where are you at"
Could be "You ate"
Could be you are getting gumbo at a place called "Yat's"

Church: I need to go to my social network.
Lotto: I'm a dumbass who pretends I don't have a gambling problem. That, or I genuinely think god is going to help me because I'm a narcissistic a-hole.
Bless your heart: frick you.

"I'm still running up and down the road."

It means a person hasn't retired yet

This is classic Arkansas verbiage
