Avoid behavior that will make you a target of law enforcement officers. I am a white guy in my 50s and I still practice this.

Just being curious here : what would be the number of black male teens, killed by another black male teen, compared to the number of black male teens killed by law enforcement officers?
I think you should worry about the most dangerous things first.

While folks will say being black I would go a step further and say don't look poor. Seriously, years ago I had a late model car (decent 4 door american sedan) that did not look terrible but was showing age. Kept getting pulled over late at night and I am very ginger so it was not being black. Got a newer car and stopped getting pulled over.
Same with clothing and appearance probably. If you are wearing baggy pants or all tatted up you are probably more likely to get attention from law enforcement.

Our son (who is white) has a black best friend who lived with us the last 3 months of his senior year because his dad is military and got transferred to a different base.
When the friend would drive (our car, his car whatever car) and my son was with him. They would get stopped especially at night. No particular reason. My son drives, never an issue.
The black kid is like a second son to us. Now in the military himself and doing great. Freakin racist a-hole cops.

So they are not targeting black they are just targeting the poor because poor people are more likely to deal drugs, is that your premise?
Would be funny if the IRS sat on the public roads pulling over every 50k+ car they saw driving by and harassing them I guess.

some of the issues could be racial but the deeper issue is the wealth or lack their of. Poorer people commit more crimes, they also look trashier for the most part so they are easy targets. Then throw in that most poor people aren't as well educated and you get scuffles with cops instead of the I'm going to just have this ticket erased type stuff.

Also rich people can afford lawyers and fight shite. Some poor trashball from LP just had to deal with it. Why go through the trouble when you can get easy arrest numbers on poor folk?
