Bad idea or good idea?
I feel like it would make it easier for personal attacks without a board to back it up, but the reason I’d use it is to personally get to know some of the posters I like. I don’t want to post my personal contact info on entire board, but there’s some posters I’d like to have a beer with, and I think having a private message setting would be awesome in a lot of ways.

DMs open up a whole new world of liability to Chicken. He’d have to have some type of monitoring system to make sure illegal shite wasn’t happening through these private messages. That’s more money and more stress, with no ROI.

The trolls would weaponize the DMs within seconds of the feature being added.
I've always just seen people create gmails with their usernames before the @ and that typically works. If someone needs it you just post it real quick, let them get it, and then edit the post after to clear the email away.
