Ironically this is the 3rd time this has happened to me in my lifetime and I'm only 27. Not only am I 27 but I'm a respectful professional, intellectual individual that has no problem articulating myself and I dress like I have some common sense. So with these LEO's I guess I was just misunderstood, or maybe I wasn't complying
What is the statistical likelihood that you or I get killed by a LEO as compared to street violence

this isn't true.
I'd wager a lot of money that I know which one is the case.

While were at it, since you decided to single out Mississippi, let's see if you can tell me which state has the most segregated schools in America.
Here's a hint. It isn't Mississippi.

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word "irony."

The thing with what's going on in society is that you have a group of black people who have to live being black.
This is not as difficult as you claim. I, too, am a 27 year old black professional.
quote:
not talking about criminals and uncivilized people that exist within every racial demographic but good common decent people who are tired of the shyt and you have white citizens who can't relate or even care to try to understand where those people are coming from
Most good/common/decent people ofany race aren't having multiple physically involved encounters with LEOs at age 27.
quote:
you counter their message of Black Lives Matter with Blue Lives Matter and All Lives Matter... lol like seriously.
Lol like seriously? ALM is an extension of BLM. Only way you'd have a problem with it is if you're being exclusivist, which in this case is being racist.
quote:
That response is like me saying hey cops what about the military, fire department, coal miners....All Jobs Matter
Not a cogent analogy.
quote:
How many "social" experiments have we seen where they take the same resume that selected black as the race and changed the ethnicity to white and the percentage of interviews rose dramatically and the same going for loan financing, but let you guys tell it all opportunity is the same.
This is an obtuse tangent. Getting jobs/loans is largely a matter if networking and socioeconomic class.
I found a job post-military service fairly quickly due to my alumni network. My wife struggled because there were limited opportunities in her field.
She's white, by the way.
quote:
There is a civil suit in the city of Ridgeland MS for housing segregation against the mayor and the city engineer but those days are in the past.
Another rambling tangent that has precious little to do with BLM. No one is insinuating that there isn't more progress that needs to be made toward racial harmony. I defy you, however, to posit that things are so much worse now than ever before. We've come a long way from the 60s. In a drastically short period of time. The problems faced now play in comparison, if we're being honest.

So the valid points are tangents while your wife having a shitty degree is crucial data for comparison to social inequality and you don't know the definition of irony....got it. Are you a big dumbhass or a little dumbhass? Dude shut the hell up. I'm curious...what do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking.

When discussing BLM, yes.

I merely answered your tangent in kind.
Also, don't be presumptuous. Getting a job post-military service is a tricky proposition no matter what degree you have, as many vets will readily attest.

I know the definition and use it in proper context. Something you failed to do.

*Dumbass
Also, for someone who purports to be so articulate/respectful irl, your posts indicate that opposite.
Calm yourself down, bro

I don't get your angle? The southern states are the grounds for these issues, there isn't much separating any of these states aside from economic statistics. Socially they're very much the same. Compared to the SEC how much crime do you hear about from players in the other power 5 conferences? Its the social climate of the south and one that many legislatures would like to keep the same. The same goes for health.

First off, thanks to your wife for her service
Both my parents, my wife and I, and my brother-in-law served in the USAF (BIL is still active duty). All of us had varying degrees of success in finding jobs after the military. All of us are planners. It really depends on a lot of factors. In my wife and my case, we med board put us on an accelerated timeline and we were several states way from where we wanted to settle down. You play the hand you're dealt. That's life.

Yep, you seem like a relatively civil individual. I can't for the life of me understand why you have had 3 run ins with the law.
T-Bird you're my boy going forward. And Mangina, just so you know I completely realize what a minority goes through. I am the big brother to my adopted sister. I am the one that stood up and beat some racist arse for calling her a "****" or nappy head as we grew up. I know exactly the trials a person of color has to overcome. As T-Bird said this ain't the 1960's anymore and my sister is a perfect example. She graduated college and is an international marketer doing quite well for herself....and she says the #1 problem facing the black population today is the pervasive/accepted violence and inability to except accountability for their actions. I believe if you Chang e that and you basically change the entire issue.

Right on
That's what one of my little brothers wants to do. He's majoring in some cyber security program at UTSA starting this fall.
My mom graduated from the University of Michigan in 1983, my dad from A&M the same year. Wife and I graduated from A&M (classes 2011 and 2010, respectively), have another brother who is Aggie class of '14, a sister who is a senior at Sam Houston State, and another sister who is a junior at Baylor.
And there's four more kids still at home

Just had that convo with my boss a few months ago myself. I think I'd pursue it if I were in a different industry. Won't really help me much here, it turns out.
Love my job though. Plan to be here a good long while if I have my way. Very blessed.

And just FYI, since I live close by that city, because of this has cracked down big time on any and every issue. So bad that I don't let me kids (teens) go there without permission. If they do they will get pulled over and issued a ticket/tickets (already occurred once and my kids followed my rules but got 2 tickets which were complete total BS). Is it over-kill hell ya! But because of bad apples they have come down hard on everybody. It is what it is and it's a helluva way to live.

Most black people will say the same thing myself included in regarding to the relations within our race itself. Where you miss me is why that's relevant conversation in regards to police brutality and social discrimination. The BLM group is heavily involved in the black community especially both in Chicago and Baltimore where some members have actually been killed working to resolve intercity situation so they don't just decide to get pissed when a police officer commits a crime that he will be soon acquitted for, that's just when the new networks decide they care to come see what's going on. Am I'm very civil, like another member stated earlier I show respect where respect is due. If a cop gets sideways with me you're not going to get a yes sir from me and that with any person. When someone on here questions what I've been through and tries to tell me said obstacles don't exist that warrants for a shut the hell up.
