This morning a tropical storm, a few hours later, now, a full fledged hurricane an eyelash from a cat 2. Will not be a cat 4 or 5, but still dangerous with sudden strength increase along with relatively radical path shift is such a short period. Pray for Mobile area as of now it appears eye will be just to west of Mobile, worst possible path.

With our luck it brings either Godzilla or Cthulhu on shore with it.

Laura nearly hit Cat 5 in a short amount of time.

Harvey went from a depression to a cat 5 in 40 hours. That is by far the fastest I've ever seen. It was a small storm off the coast of Mexico and less than 2 days later it was one of the largest storms to ever hit texas.
Hell hurricane Laura went from a tropical storm to a cat 4 in 3 days.
That's how it works man. Warm water in the gulf cranks them up. Hope everyone stays safe out there.

The greatest threat here in Orange Beach seems to be the rain not the wind.
Ivan was absolutely worst I've seen in this area. I doubt that it grows past a cat 2.

Hurricane Charley went from 110 to 145 mph sustained, in just 3 hours. Right before it hit land, back in 04.

Hey Bamapig, I was here in OBAL for Ivan and now for Sally..
You need anything? I have an extra generator?
Ivan had a lot worse storm surge and fricked up PBB-182 (beach road for those not from here) a lot worse but Sally seems to be worse in certain areas due to flooding.
That bitch decided to strengthen as she cam ashore which is worse case and caught all lot off guard.. I felt the pressure drop about 4am as the eye was coming over .. it was a weird feeling.
Been a stressful last week..

Since a bot bumped this thread, I have a question. How bad was the damage and flooding in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores behind the beach road? Like around the Wharf, Bear Point and Gulf Shores Golf Club. I am interested in buying something in those areas.

This post is worse than Karen's.
That being said, clearly this board is unmoderated.... I RA'd the first one back in August. Figured spam of all things would attract at least minor attention but guess not.

Humberto......I went to bed around 11pm with a tropical depression possibly forming and by 6 am it was a 90 mph storm coming in.

Michael as it neared landfall. Not even close that thing exploded into a CAT5 despite shear.
