Huge Sabo fan here as well.

Once heard Lou Piniella tell a story on Sabo. As best I can remember, Piniella thought Sabo needed some rest, so over a period of maybe a week, week and a half he sat Sabo twice. Obviously, Sabo was still playing in lots more games than he wasn't, but Sabo's response the second time he didn't see his name on the lineup card was "I don't even know why I'm on the roster."

Ron Cey, the Penguin on the Dodgers. 3rd base

Wore his number all my life playing baseball and played 3rd because of him. Loved playing the hot corner.

Not sure about the that we wouldn't have guessed part, but Nolan Ryan was definately one of my favorites Rangers pitcher Nolan Ryan hits Robin Ventura of after Ventura charged the mound on Aug. 4, 1993. (Linda Kaye / Associated Press)

On August 29, 1987, Nolan Ryan accomplished his 11th 200-punchout campaign to break the tie with Tom Seaver and his 10 seasons fanning 200. He finished his career with 15, a record that remains unreachable.

Ventura charged the mound

Robin Ventura just sort of jogs out there, suddenly realizes he has no plan and awkwardly goes in for the bear-hug, then proceeds to get the ever-loving shite beat out of him by a man 20 years his senior.

Cassius Clay - great Olympic boxer. To bad he never turned pro - he could have been a contenda.
