Here's a song by The Band that Dylan actually wrote, hence the vivid lyrics:
The Band - When I Paint My Masterpiece (1971)

Every song on Dylan’s Desire album is worth a listen. Joey is a 10+ minute biographical song about the gangster Crazy Joe and it’s great.

White Mansions is a 1978 concept album written by English singer-songwriter Paul Kennerley which imagines the lives of American Southerners in the Confederacy during the Civil War. The songs were performed by country singers, each portraying different characters in an attempt to show the Confederacy and the concept of "Southern pride" through their eyes. The album's vocalists included Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, John Dillon and Steve Cash. Eric Clapton played guitar on several tracks.

This is one of my favorite B-sides from Lynyrd Skynyrd that I've noticed a lot of people haven't heard.
Lynyrd Skynyrd - On the Hunt (1975)
It's Ronnie Van Zant talking to a groupie and telling her that he knows who she is and what she wants, and he doesn't care because he wants the same thing.

quote:
I said baby mama, I don't know your name
But I said baby, sugar I can play your game
Every night when we leave the hall
I see you hanging around
You want to ride in my big black car baby
Want to go uptown
I know who you are baby
I know what they call you girl
Never put you down baby
I'm just like you baby, I'm on the hunt
I know lady
People gonna talk about you and me
Let me say one thing mama, sugar I do as I please
And if you want to love me baby, I'm your man
And all those high-falutin' society people
I don't care if they don't understand
My daddy told me a long time ago
Said there's two things son
Two things you should know
And in these two things you must take pride
That's a horse and woman, yeah
Well both of them you ride
