When I lived in Florida, I'm pretty sure that the town of Alachua near Gainesville was pronounced a-latch-you-A but the county (spelled the same way), that both towns are in, was pronounced a-latch-you-uh.

IIRC, it was always just Cowan Road in town, and Lorraine Road north of there, but they merged the names when they built I-10 and had an exit there that went both directions.
