What wmr said makes a lot if sense. But I'd also keep a close eye on the possible bug bite. Spider bites can be really serious. I got a cellulitis infection from one several years ago. If it starts to blister or you see red streaks around it, get to a doctor fast.

I agree..

You may have a case for going to the doctor anyways......pain = Lortabs.....

Depending on your age this could be gout.

Go get checked for gout, and yes I'm serious. Same thing happened to my father about 3 months ago.

Gout is a brutal affliction. It has certainly made me suffer the last few years.

I'm gonna ride it out today, if its still bad tomorrow, I guess I'll go to the doctor. I'm only 27, I thought gout was extremely rare under 30?

I'm seeing some pretty obvious swelling under the ball now too.

I did too until a friend of mine that is about the same age as you had it last month.

I'm really unfamiliar with gout, so I'm reading up on it. The only thing I can say about whatever I have is that it's about a 6.5-7/10 on the pain scale. It's like it never relents, even for a minute.

It usually is pretty rare under 30. Are you diabetic or pre-diabetic? It's pretty common in diabetics. My Dad has it and has flare ups, but it tends to be more generalized (i.e. the whole foot/ankle) instead of specific like you've described.

I'm like wmr and Semo. Watch the red spot in case it is a bite. Follow wmr's suggestions for stretching it and etc. See how it is tomorrow.

Likely a combination of mild dehydration and sleeping on it wrong. The tibio and fibular ligaments in your ankle tend to stiffen with dehydration.

I used to get some gout in my big toe joint on one foot.

I made some dietary changes and got relief.

For gout attacks, I always, and I mean always, got relief within a day with cherry juice, or eating a bag of cherries from the grocery store.

Gout pain is some of the worst pain I've experienced, though. True to the dat.

How much beer do you drink? The doctor told my father that beer, along with other factors (obviously), caused his. He doesn't even drink beer anymore and still has flare up on occasion. We went and he ate shrimp at Kowaliga Restaurant about a month ago and had a major flare up the next day. His is usually in his ankle area, too.

Good luck getting it checked out, and hopefully it isn't gout like I'm assuming.

I drink a lot of beer. I've basically come to the conclusion that I prolly need to go to the doc tomorrow. The pain hasn't subsided at all.

For your sake, I hope it isn't gout.

Not being able to drink beer is un-American.

Good luck, bro.

Let us know what the doctors say!

"severely sprained" is what they thought. If it doesn't clear up in a few days, I have to go see a podiatrist. Doesn't hurt near as much today, but still can't bear any weight on it.

I still don't see how you can "severely sprain" something in your sleep, but wtf do I know

That just seems bizarre, Benny. I assume it's not a bite though? That's at least a good thing.

They didn't think so but I also had blood work done, so guess we'll see if its anything further. They really weren't that helpful tbh

Basically after they xrayed and saw it wasn't broken, they automatically assumed it was sprained. Then again, that might be it. After playing soccer for 15 years, I've never had a sprain like this, but only time will tell lol
