I like John Ritter. He’s dead.
Isbell got a little too overtly political. I like his stuff through Nashville Sound. I saw him in concert in Mobile after that album came out and the place was full of liberal hipsters who weren’t fans but just wanted to hear, “White Man’s World.” The two hipster girls in front of me stood up and screamed and had tears running down their face during it. They left immediately after he played it, as did several other people. I figured if this was the denominator Isbell was trying to reach, I didn’t need to listen to any of his newer stuff.

what is that Dirty South
Horror movie about Southerners shown to school children in the North so we know to avoid the place like the plague until we can afford to retire to a beach front condo in Florida

Yeah. He can be pretty toxic on Twitter apparently. Hopefully there are some tracks on his upcoming album to salvage.
FWIW, Ritter isn't like Isbell in that regard. He's certainly left of center, as are most musicians, but he doesn't throw around blame and shite on everyone who disagrees with him like Isbell. And TBH I'd say only 3 or 4 of his 150 or so songs are political.

I think i just transcended time and space jukin, truly my eyes have been opened to my evils. Where do I purchase tickets and a beanie hat?
Sounds like a song Springsteen would write now minus the saxaphone and more acoustic and sad.

I mean that’s really some stupid arse shite. It so totally turned me off that I don’t listen to Isbell much at all anymore. I used to love the guy.
I saw Sturgill Simpson and DBT in concert here and they both talked shite. Sturgill talked shite about the town and DBT (Patterson Hood) talked shite about the crowd, who was my age and wanted to hear the old stuff (they played very little of it).
I used to like them a whole lot more, too.
