Yeah, I can't help but like Dolly. She's an original.

Yea he changed the tune of it. I do like a few of his songs but for the most part I don't. Friends in Low Places was good

Whenever I get really sad, especially if I'm failing at something, I just imagine Dolly trying to sleep on her stomach.
Always cheers me right up.

I think there should be more than just "old" and "new". I think really good country music started to decline somewhere around the late 90s/2000s. So while the 90s aren't necessarily "old", I have no problem referring to that era as old country. Now, when we get into Waylon, Merle, Hank, Cash, Willie, etc..that would be more like "classic country".
And Garth in no way ruined country. He was one of the best around for a little while. Dipshits like Rascal Flatts and their type ruined country, and turned it into pop with an accent.

Please, I beg of you, tell me how country music can get better than this.
It can't.

I hate pop with an accent. I like country though, and folk music. One of my favorite albums ever is Down The Old Plank Road - Nashville stars doing old Appalachian folk tunes with The Chieftans. Great stuff.

This. I prefer Cory Morrow, RRB, Reckless Kelly, etc. over most of the people listed in this thread

Yep I need to do an old country thread on this board sometime when I'm bored. Obviously.

Chris LeDoux is awesome. Not sure of anybody else in the "Western" country category

Like who? The style I like is very different from Nashville Country IMO. I like some Nashville stuff, especially some of Eric Church's non-radio work, but some of it I can't stand

Anything but country.

No, I've never had to pretend to be that. I have all the real parts, and everything.
