I've listened to country music all my life and though I've made fun of the genre often, it is a safe haven for my mind.

While I like some of the newer artists such as Hunter Hayes, Miranda Lambert, etc, I tend to enjoy the older style much more.

Newer artists like Jamey Johnson and the Prime Country XM station are what I most often find myself listening to.

Which do you prefer?

Is this even a question? Old, by fifty miles. Most country since the new millenium is just pop with a southern accent and stereotypes thrown in.

I prefer old to new with a few exceptions but what I listen to 90% of the time is singer/songwriter stuff that is generally gendered into Americana

I love both dude. You can't go wrong listening to Luke Bryan, Florida UGA line, Blake Shelton and frick yes Hunter Hayes(kid is legit).

With that said I have a playlist on my phone with old country I listen to weekly. Garth brooks, brooks & dunn, kenny chesneys old stuff, george straight, tim mcgraw, rio diamond, john michael montgomery and many many more...

^^^^^ All FTW. Because a lot of these songs at some point I feel like were the story of my life. Country music no longer has that soul and twang to it that either makes you want to get up and twirl on the dance floor with a girl, or just sit at the bar and get fricked up.

Love Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Brantley Gilbert, Little Big Town, Zac Brown Band, & DGAF who hates them.

I loved Keith Whitley, as well, and George Jones will always be my favorite.

Here's a shocker, was never that fond of Johnny Cash, but respected him.

Eta: Like Blake Shelton, too.

I listen to it all and have a fair amount of both on my playlist. As for newer artists, I like Miranda and Eric Church.
