Do they realize there are other places in the world to go?

We have friends here in Columbia who go at least 4 times per year and will occasionally throw in a Disney Cruise just for shits and giggles.

Engagement portraits? Disney
Bachelorette party? Disney (she tried to get him to do the bachelor party there)
Wedding? Disney
Two baby announcement photos? Disney

It's pretty god damn infuriating how much they love blowing money at that place.

So, you're bragging that you have straight friends, or no ?

Why do you care how other people spend their money?

I agree it's nuts

And they get mad when you ask the question

All I'm saying is that everyone I know has been to Disney a time or two, but I don't think I know anyone that goes every other year, much less multiple times in a calendar year.

Have nothing against Disney FWIW, I just think it's an interesting regional/cultural phenomenon

Because he’s stopped doing fun shite with us, his friends, so they can make their quarterly Disney trip. A bunch of us guys take an annual football trip to a “bucket list” type destination (Civil War at Autzen Zoo, Michigan/Ohio State, The Red River Rivalry, etc), and he has had to back out of that. When we take vacations to the beach or the cabin, they can’t go because they don’t have PTO. Can’t afford the trips we all go on with our wives. Hell, he won’t even come out drinking on weekends because of their budget and he has a damn good job. Once a year? It’s still odd as frick, but I guess I get it. Going literally 4 times per year, every year, to the point where you have to neglect relationships? Yeah, I care about that. I’m pretty sure he spends more time with Mickey than he does with us, anymore.

I think a lot of BR people go too. I also don't quite get the appeal. I've been twice, once as a kid, once as an adult. Two observations: it's expensive for what you get, and at least for me, I had a hard time getting over the "fakeness" of everything.

If you were complaining about someone random, I could understand the question asked to you. It seems fairly obvious before your explanation as to why someone would care about his/her friends or families.
