Stay at the Best Western on North Rampart. They have the BEST breakfast buffet anywhere! Concerning restaurants, Deanie's Seafood, The Gumbo Shop, Muriel's and Pat O'Brians are some of my favorites. Have fun!

go see some places

The Old Ursuline Convent museum (inside), Lalaurie Mansion (history of), the French Market (through) that Looney mentioned, and of course St. Louis Cathedral (inside) are all interesting.

Architecture tour in the Garden District or a cemetery tour might be fun if that's your thing.

Guided tours can give you lots of historical information of course — like most everything structural you see is actually Spanish — but if you're short on time you can cobble together a decent walking route yourself and see a lot.

Do you know where you got your shoes?

They try that with me and I say tell them that "I HAVE my shoes on my feet. I GOT my shoes from your mom on my birthday!"

Always stop in at POBs for a Hurricane. Will check out the other places.

If you're going to brave Bourbon Street, which I would not recommend, try the Old Absinthe House for a mojito. Eat at Galatoire's if on Bourbon. Antoine's is also a great place to eat.

Just don't leave your purse or anything valuable on the table when sitting near the sidewalk. Young teens will snatch and dart across the street never to be seen again. The railing will prevent you from pursuing, which is actually not a bad thing. The young ones are the worse; they will shot and kill you without hesitation knowing they are protected juveniles.
