I never understood how Carrie or v The Exorcist scared people. Especially old people. I watched it (at night too) and I thought it was hilarious. Especially the scene when she said "Your mother sucks cocks in Hell". Gets me every time.

The idea that Carrie scared people is laughable. There is literally ONE scene that was remotely scary, which was the very last scene in the movie.
By the time I saw the Exorcist, I think I was 15, everyone had built it up to be the scariest movie I'd ever see. Literally EVERYONE told me it would make me shite my pants, so it couldn't possibly live up to my expectations.

Gotta be honest, it did scare me a bit when I first saw it. Every Saturday, part of my boxing training routine included a 2 mile swim in the Gulf of Mexico, I was terrified the whole time for months.

Exorcism of Emily Rose, I woke up at 3 on the dot for like a month.
Signs, the movie itself wasn't scary but the Mexican birthday party scene freaked me the frick out.
