I couldn't be happier for her. She comes from a family of diehard LSU fans so this is new territory for us. We don't know much about the campus or surrounding areas so any info would be very much appreciated.

Me neither, but the Arky fans rave about the Fayetteville area, and I would guess it's super nice. Congrats. You can be a part time hog fan now.

Been to Fayettevile a few times. Your daughter has chosen a great school in a great college town. The area is beautiful.
Good for her.
Good for her.

The mountains will be a real change of pace for her. I don't mean that in a bad way mind you, just that those hills will give you a good workout.
Start looking at the dorms now would be my first piece of advice. If at all possible I'd suggest not getting in one of the dorms on Stadium Drive. They are a bit older and they are at the bottom of a hill. It can get to be a bit of a pain to walk up and down the hill and your parking lot tends to get taken over for basketball games (at least it did back in my day when you had to dodge dinosaurs roaming the campus and we had not invented the written word.) but they are a very easy walk to the football stadium and basketball arena.
I would suggest not taking a car for her Freshman year if she is going to be living on campus. Parking can be a nightmare and everything she will need is either on campus (health clinic and cafeterias), next to campus (Dickson St.), or a bus ride away. The bus system in Fayetteville is free... or to be more honest she's already paying for it out of her student fees and sale taxes. Use it.
If she does bring a car parking is going to be a hassle. She might have to settle for parking on the other side of campus or on top of a parking garage. Stick to the main roads for the first month or two and after that she should be able navigate around the city well enough. There are very nice places to visit in Rogers and Bentonville which is an easy drive to get too.
If she is going for an Agri degree she's probably going to need to work some time into her schedule, some of the Ag stuff is off campus and it can take a while to get there. Also odds are that every semester at least one construction crew is going to be working on campus so once you know where they are plan on taking detours.
If she likes walking or biking than Fayetteville (and all of NW Arkansas since its all interconnected) is home to what may be the single greatest collection of nature trails in the US. I kid you not. They are everywhere, they are well maintained, and the police patrol them constantly.
Err... since it isn't your son going to Arkansas I shall refrain from giving you directions to Bottom's Up, the notorious strip club in Fayetteville.
Oh. Pack some cold weather gear! She's not going to Antartica but it will get chilly in the hills. Best of luck to her and you might want to put in an app to join the Arkansas board.

Great town and area.
One of the safer college campus environments. Much safer than Baton Rouge.
If I had a daughter, wouldn't mind her going there.
Congrats.

There’s more elevation change from Bud Walton Arena to Old Main than there is in the entire state of Louisiana. That’s not a troll or joke, it’s a fact.

He is not kidding. She will get used to it though.
The important thing is that she likes her time up here. Get involved in student activities. Join a sorority. Whatever she wants. And let us know if she needs anything.

Congrats! She’ll be the first in your family to receive an education. In all seriousness, it’s a wonderful experience and don’t be surprised if she stays. There isn’t a day in the past 30 yrs I haven’t wanted to move back. Geaux Hogs!

I have lived up here for 7 years. It truly is fantastic. I grew up in N LA and feared living in Arkansas because all i knew was W Monroe to Little Rock. Yuck.
They call Rogers, Little Dallas. The area has anything and everything you need. Bike trails, hiking, concerts at the AMP. One of the perks is, the Walmart stores are elite because of corporate. Great restaurants. Close to Buffalo River, Tulsa, and Branson. We dont plan to leave.
** I will add, life is about relationships and the sooner she connects and makes friends the better.

I left to take care of my mother and I tell you in all honesty, I miss living up there every day. The Arkansas Delta has its charms I suppose, but its not near the level of NW Arkansas. Plus, unlike a lot of places, NW Arkansas is very welcoming to newcomers because 75% of the population is first or second generation residents.

Rogers Pinnacle Hills does remind me of something in the Dallas area. There is a lot of wealth within a mile of that Top Golf.
I love NWA. I have my sights set on Carroll County, though. It is close to lots of cool stuff, still pretty rural, and some of the best parts of the Ozarks are there.

I went to visit the Helena area for a funeral and I'm just taken back by the numerous houses that are on the national registry for historic places. But it is sad how it went downhill as it use to be a thriving city to the point where it was in consideration for the capitol of Arkansas.

Seriously, though.
Bring. A. Bike.
Fayetteville alone has 51 miles of paved bike paths going all over town. There are natural surface and mountain biking trails, too. But 51-fricking miles of big, beautiful, functional bike paths. They're building an additional 7 miles this year alone.
You can get all over town on them. They connect campus to every part of town, and link most of the big parks and nature areas, too. Most of them are lit up until 2 AM.
They connect into the larger NWA metro trail system, which has IDK how many miles of trails, including one continuous 36 mile path that lets you go from south Fayetteville to Bella Vista, called the Razorback Greenway.
Fayetteville started acquiring right-of-way for trails back in the early 1990s. They finally started constructing them in the early 2000s. The Waltons took notice sometime around 2010 and started showering cash on the program.
We have better cycling infrastructure than most metropolitan areas have, within the city limits.
