Won the flyweight title, jumped two divisions and won titles in the next 7 weight classes. Only boxer to win titles in 4 of the glamour divisions. Only boxer to win lineal titles in 5 divisions. He's defeated 20 world champions.

Henry "Hammerin' Hank" Armstrong came close to matching that feat. Armstrong held the Featherweight, Lightweight, and Welterweight titles. He fought for the Middleweight title and got a controversial draw in a fight most said he won.

It is a testament to Pacquiao's hard work and training that he's pulled off the quadruple crown (in the original 8 weight classes) when only two or three other boxers have pulled off a triple crown.

EDIT: By triple crown I mean in the "glamour" divisions, the original 8 weight classes.

He's also a good man, not to mention the fact that he's taken care of his money and not squandered it.

Not surprising when you look at the exchange rate to the Phillippine Peso

He's a great fighter and a great person.

Mayweather was a better boxer but a true a-hole.

Doubtful, Mayweather is the greatest defensive fighter of all time. Mayweather is also nearly 2 years older than Pacquiao, so this "if they met in Manny's prime" bullshite is tired and just plain stupid.

Mayweather knew what he had to do to win, and he did it, easily.

I totally understand all the hate for Floyd, he's a prick and has a boxing style that is boring to most people, but give credit where it's due.

Floyd didn't want any of Manny around the time Manny fought Cotto.

Manny had just as much time to prepare for the fight as Floyd did, and he got DOMINATED in almost every statistical category.

Everyone expected to see a brawl, and apparently they had never seen a Floyd Mayweather fight before. Mayweather did to Pacquiao exactly what he does to everyone, play defense, jab, and counter punch. The result would have been the same no matter when they fought.

Manny is a fighter who can box, Floyd is a pure boxer, maybe the best pure pugilist of all time. BTW, he could be a KO artist if he wanted to, ask anyone who has stepped in the ring with him, Floyd can hit very hard, but he figured out that he could win easily without risking his career.

That's why I laughed at people who actually spent money on Mayweather vs McGregor, thinking McGregor would overwhelm him with his power. Mayweather did everything he wanted to, knocked him out exactly when he wanted to, even tried to place a $400K bet on himself for a 10th round KO before the fight, had one of his entourage place a $100k bet on a 10th round KO.

There may have been other boxers who could match him in pure boxing skill but they fought in other time periods where a brawler could get away with roughing them up more. Regardless if Floyd is not the greatest pure boxer of all time (and he has a great argument) he's on the Mt. Rushmore of them.

It is hard to determine just how much of a douchebag Floyd really is away from the ring though. He decided about midway through his career to basically be an old school pro wrestling heel. Whenever he is in public or the media is around he dials things up to 11 and acts like the biggest jackass you could ever meet.

Which was a very smart decision. Like with old time pro wrestling heels, everyone wants to see the bad guy get his arse handed to him. He made money hand over fist once he started trying to get people to hate him.

He's probably a jerk in real life to a degree, but not as much as his public persona. Which is fine with Floyd, he's laughing all the way to the bank. Which he probably owns at this point.

I think it's definitely a gimmick, but he's also an irl prick.

Can't knock his hustle tho.

I can't officially call him the greatest fighter of all time because he never had a true "nemesis" that could push him to the limit of his ability. He was never in a war. Granted, you don't see many boxing wars anymore, and he may be just that damn good that nobody could challenge him.

Best pure boxer, imo yes.

Best fighter, imo Sugar Ray Robinson.

Oh yeah. Robinson was in a class all of his own.

Just to survive over 200 fights in an era when fights weren't stopped to protect the fighters, they either ended with a KO, the opponent quit, or went 15 rounds is ridiculous.

Say what you want, but in his prime the one man nobody would want to be in the ring with, nobody, was one George Foreman. He could destroy anyone and might be the most dangerous fighter ever.

Ali figured out how to beat the man, but even he admitted the round he stopped the man he was all in , and if George didn't go down he would have lost.
