I agree with everything you said accept for New Orleans and the inshore and deep sea fishing. Downtown NOLA by itself has more culture than the entire Atlanta area ever will and Louisiana's inshore/offshore fishing s###s on any thing Georgia has. Other than that, Georgia wins easily in all other categories.

The one thing that kills La in this argument is the landscape.
The Mississippi River thwarts our chances at nicer beaches, as well.
Atlanta sux though...

Mississippi has the Mississippi River and they have nicer beaches than Louisiana. So ....

Wtf are you you talking about? Take a look at a map
The Mississippi River runs through Louisiana & the mouth of the river is only in Louisiana. All the river does in respect to the State of MS is outline most of their western border
eta: Louisiana marshes are the natural drainage gateway for the Mississippi Regional Watershed that runs into the Gulf of Mexico. Hence, the reason we don't have many beaches along our coast

Thank you for the advice. I have now taken a look at a map. And I find that your argument, at best, only works for having no decent beaches around New Orleans. What about the rest of your frickin' state?
The map also tells me that every other coastal state with a decent size river running through it (Rio Grande, Chattahoochie, etc., manages to find a way to have outstanding beaches.
Then there's you.

If you drive down 82 below Lake Charles or Grand Isle, you will see a good amount of beaches. I've seen both
Mississippi River Discharge/Day 593,000 cfs
Rio Grande River Discharge/Day 2,401 cfs
Chatahooochee River Discharge/Day 10,090 cfs

That's because Georgia, Bama, and Florida have pretty much killed this river.

Texas doesn't have outstanding beaches.
They're pretty mediocre, IMO.

Are there beaches in Louisiana where people hang out much? I've heard about the fishing in the drainage area but haven't travelled in that area.

the Rio Grande River flows into the Gulf of Mexico at Las Palomas, a 3311 acre WMA that serves the purpose to preserve the wetlands & marshes of the Lower Rio Grande Valley
