Jesus, are they suggesting you eat charcoal?
Toss 'em in some olive oil, add on some spices, and bake them for about 20 minutes at 425. Stir once, make sure they don't stick. Viola.
Hell, my cousin can't screw those up and she's the worst cook I've ever met bless her heart.

use my M-I-L method of cooking veggies:
cook till well done then cook 30 min. more, check, then 30 min. more.
OR
steam whole beans until al dente then sautee in olive oil with a sprinkle of Grill Mates garlic type seasoning mix

I would go old school
Pull the tin can in your fridge (the one you pour your bacon grease in) and set a cast iron skillet (the kind your wife whacks you in the head with) on max hot for the burner. Fry them puppies up in no time while Google folks fall asleep waiting.
(I like to toss some fresh garden grown crushed peppers in the grease for spice and maybe some fresh garlic sliced razor thin.)

Prior to WW II it was not uncommon to "grease" can the veggies from your garden. We had a root cellar (always fairly cool) and the canning jars were glass but the "lid" was about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of grease / lard and bacon grease was popular in our family.

For starters…if at the VERY minimum, you don’t cook ‘em with a smoked ham-hock, a generous splash of bacon grease, and a diced Vidalia onion??…(salt & peppered to “taste”)
…it doesn’t matter if you cook ‘em somewhere between 1 full minute or 1 full day , those Green Beans aren’t gonna be anywhere NEARLY fit for human consumption.

cast iron skillet
In all seriousness I've used a cast iron dutch oven forever but have always been afraid of a skillet because of how hard I figured it was to keep clean (regularly).
Started making eggs and cooking meats in it a couple of months ago, and haven't looked back. Made some cornbread during the cold weather and it popped right out.
Nothing has stuck to it yet.
