So my question is, when are they going to start removing Union Memorials, up north, like the statue of that raping, pillaging, looting, burning, and butchering SOB Sherman in Central Park in NYC? ... among many many others up there.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A state judge has ruled against an effort by preservationists to stop the removal of prominent Confederate monuments in New Orleans.
On Friday, Civil District Court Judge Piper D. Griffin said the city did not act improperly in deciding to take down four monuments tied to Confederate history, including a towering column and statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.
Griffin denied a request to stop the city from moving forward with its plans. The plaintiffs said they would appeal.
Pierre McGraw, president of the Monumental Task Committee Inc., filed a lawsuit in late January to stop the removal. His group maintains the monuments. Another historic preservation group joined his suit Thursday.
A similar challenge was shot down in federal court in January. That ruling is being appealed too.

I'm waiting for W&L to become W again. Wonder if they'll try to remove the Chapel.

Yawn.
In New Orleans, no one cares.
I'm going to call it Lee Circle forever.

I believe they intend to destroy it from what I've read ... they are literally going to molest the thing before busting it up into rocks and melting down the bronze ... and using it on a road project, and selling it for scrap.
They are going to let some angry blacks beat it with sledge hammers for awhile first. It's already been vandalized several times recently.
I've got pictures with my girlfriend and me from HS taken during our French Class trip down there in '68.

It's really a shame.

What the frick?
I'd make a kickstarter to purchase the statue of Lee from the city if that's what they're going to do.

Yep, I believe the jazz musician Wynton Marsales is behind most of it ... along with a lot of transplanted yankees, at least from what I've read.
They don't even want the statue to be allowed to be auctioned off or stored somewhere until they can figure what to do with it. Rather, they want the statue melted down and they want the "tainted" marble it stood upon reduced to rubble.
They want, and apparently are going to get, Lee Circle re-designated something else to honor Louis Armstrong, Andrew Jackson, Mahalia Jackson and Fats Domino.

See ... this is why we cannot have nice things. No respect.

Assuming that we're obviously not talking about vandalism or disrupting the peace here, why is beating on the statues of a bunch of traitors to America a bad thing?

Damn right I don't have respect for the cause Lee fought for.
Goddamn right

That's a shame. If only the blacks could have something taken away from them so they could see how it feels. Something like their freedom for 350 years...
oh wait!

What!?! That's horrible! They could use the rock and bronze to improve the Sherman statue in central park instead.
All hail the GOAT, the Darth Vader of the Union. Nobody was better at destroying rebel scum than he. For the empire!
