I live in Atlanta and people here are assholes. No southern hospitality here. I have my guard up at all times.

Why not address my point that the Yankees states have been carrying the freeloading South for damn well long enough?

Why don't you add that Missouri was the home of Jesse James, Quantrill and a few others I could mention. There were also Carl Austin Hall and Bonnie Brown Heady, famous Missourians all. Tell us about how many Mormons y'all butchered.

And don't forget the daytime lynching in Skidmore, where the hillbillies opened up with their rifles and shotguns on a man, though despicable, should have had his day in court.

Oh, and Missouri furnished some 40,000--45,000 troops to the South. Take away Columbia and St. Louis and y'all ain't got much to brag about.

I actually believed him when he tweeted this. He's originally from Florida, went to UT, and he's with Oakland Raiders now.

I didn't say what you quoted.

Also, I'm not from Missouri.

The thing that has always baffled is how with towns like Pikeville, etc., taking up so much of eastern Kentucky, the state can afford the highest paid athletic coach in the country.

Thanks for the compliment to our beautiful commonwealth. I find South Carolina to be beautiful as well, especially Charleston and the upstate region (one of my favorite places in the country).

I don't understand your comment about Pikeville. It's one of only a few oases of prosperity in the desert of poverty that is Eastern Kentucky. It has one of the nation's top-rated hospitals and a fine private university that is prospering.

About Coach Cal's salary: It's an investment. When the basketball program is being successful, there's a surge in prosperity that spreads across the commonwealth. A lot of southern states invest heavily in their flagship schools' athletic programs for the very same reason.

It's very encouraging to know that Kentuckians are now investing far more dollars towards UK's academic successes than for athletics. That leads to permanent improvements in our citizens' lives.

That is precisely what I am talking about. Did not used to be that way. The traffic, caused mostly by Yankees, keep people in a foul mood.

Dying no. Changing, yes. There has been a huge influx of Northerners, Mexicans, Cubans etc coming into the south. Whenever you get that many people of diverse backgrounds and traditions together things change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. There definitely were areas that needed improvement. There are definitely areas that are changing that i wish would stay the same.

Changes for the better?
1. Race relations. (Still a ways to go, but better)
2. Exposure to other races and cultures. We can learn from others, while not losing our own identities.

Changes for the worse?
1. Manners and common courtesy, mainly. Seems to be slipping away from us. Sad to see.
2. Letting old traditions be forgotten.

Political correctness is killing us. We have forgotten that we need to have common courtesy for others while not bowing to every demand people make of us.

Lexington may very well be the prettiest city in the state, though I love Louisville, with its Galt House and the Ohio, spent a week there in 2010. It's been a few years since I have been through Pikeville, home of one of my chief flight surgeons while I was in the Navy.

And I could easily fit right in at Renfro Valley.

Don't be silly. Look at the Atlanta population growth from 1970 to 1990.

Southerners have babies too, you know.

Your premise is laughably flawed

The traffic problems in Atlanta stem from more than just "Yankees" driving their cars.

The backwards state government hamstrings public transit at every chance they get and a lot of the somewhat racist suburbanites don't want it to expand because "it'll bring the undesirables to our neighborhoods" and shite.

Two major interstates converge in the center of the city and that certainly doesn't help traffic.

It's not just the "Yankees."

Transplants aren't just coming in from the northern states. They're coming in from all over the south as well.

No, Cat, you're wrong.

It's mostly just being caused by Yankees. You must accept this

I do love "fightin'" with intelligent people. This is a great board.
