Word to the wise for upcoming New Years brunches: avoid the buffet and avoid the buffet seafood.

I hate buffets, but had one at brunch with some friends today at a nicer restaurant in town and on their invitation. I had some shrimp and salmon. I paid for it the rest of the day.

That’s the messed up thing about buffets, they’re like well landscaped minefields.

No one else got sick, but no one else ate shrimp and salmon. That’s what I get for trying to eat healthy.

You’d think you’d be safe at a nice restaurant. I got sick about two weeks ago from a cheap Chinese buffet but couldn’t even get mad, I know I deserved the mud butt.

This place is white table cloth, but we go there about every 2 years and swear we’ll never go back because the food and/or service is terrible. But we didn’t set this deal up and couldn’t say no.

This hit me at the end of the meal and I’d had been cleaning off my steering wheel and cleaning out my truck if we would have hit another red light.

On another, better subject: what’s everyone’s plans for tomorrow night?

Got a new set of axes and saws for Christmas so I’m going to hit the woods hard, then probably church around 7 if I’m not too lazy. Then sleep.

SECD: are y’all getting freaky?

KSG: will any humans be dismembered tomorrow? What kind of saws and axes?

We’re going to a friend’s house to chill, eat, drink, and more likely than not pass the guitar around.

No humans, just a lot of dead maples that need to go and I want to do it the old fashioned way. Got a double bit, camp axe, hatchet and a couple bow saws. Trying to live that trad life.

What did the maples do to offend you?

Overgrew so half of them are dead. My whole area was logged in the 1880s, and then again in the 70s and I have new growth thickets everywhere that need cleaning up.

Yea but most of my half of the county is. My neighbor a quarter mile to my right is my third cousin. My neighbor a half mile to the left is my great uncle. Everyone is distantly related. I’ll never find a wife here.
