I Went to Selma Saturday

One of the coolest things I've ever experienced, even if I was too far back to hear any of the speakers on the podium. And having to park and walk 2 miles to get to the event location. And there being only a few scattered Porto-potties. Thankfully many of the local churches and businesses opened their doors for people to use their bathrooms. A sweet old black woman let me and my kids in her house as we were walking back to our car to let us use her bathroom.
I did briefly meet y'all's favorite Dem Nancy Pelosi. Tried to get a pic with Elizabeth Warren but it was a cluster around her.
Didn't get to walk across the bridge though. It closed to spectators on Saturday. That was disappointing.

My kids were the ones that really wanted to go. I'm glad I took them. They'll always remember seeing 2 presidents on the same stage at the same time, even if we were so far back you could barely see them.
We actuly had a pretty good spot a couple of hours before Obama arrived, but my daughter had to go to the bathroom and we couldn't maneuver our way back to that spot.

Good to know that you're politically indoctrinating your children, comrade. Very commie of you.
My folks never took us to political gatherings, and never told us how they voted. They let us be free-thinkers, and our common sense led us down the exact opposite path upon which you have set your children. Great job.

all joking aside from my normal reply to you on race topics, i'm sure it would have been a good experience, especially to take the kids to. it's weird to be raising my kids so differently on the issue of race from the way i was and i'm happy my kids have an opportunity to see life on this side of history than the other.
what i heard on the news from Obama didn't seem to truly race bait and/or infuriate me. that's a good thing and pretty uncommon for me.

You have no clue how my wife and I are raising our kids, so I'd suggest you keep your fricking mouth shut.

The only way I could care any less about this topic would be if Stonehog posted it.

Don't come here and post about where you take your children for political indoctrination and it won't be commented upon.

His remarks were pretty good. The only thing I though inappropriate was bringing up Ferguson.
He did a major disservice by once again linking the almost self-inflicted death of a thug and the lies that followed to what happened in Selma.

Commenting is one thing. Making absurd and ignorant comments on how my wife and I raise out kids is another. If you really want to know, it was my Republican-registered wife that took them to see Selma in the theaters that made them interested in going, and I took them for the history lesson, not political.
But please, keep spewing your ignorance.

Pot, meet kettle.
Like I said-if you don't want it commented upon, you shouldn't bring it up. Keep posting about it.

Do y'all think Selma was good or bad?

if they turn out polar opposite of you, then spleen has done a great job with his kids.

You're the one that brought up my parenting, not me. How you can make the leap of our decision to take our kids to Selma Saturday as political indoctrination is incredibly ignorant. You have no clue about the discussions that transpired before taking them.

I mean, from your comments on here, we can glean a few possibilities. I'd imagine the word evil was placed near police and white.

Any Republicans there on Saturday?

Yes. I only saw one that I knew and that was Martha Roby, except for Bush. I read there were several more, but I either didn't recognize them or didn't see them.
Well, and my wife.

I was about to correct you, but you're right. Bentley's a RINO.

Ok, if it looked like the DNC, I would have accused you of indoctrination, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Did your children mistake Nancy Pelosi for Skeletor?

The NYT would have you believe not.
Republicans in attendance got a line in the article, but cropped out of the picture.
