We've got a terrapin that shows up in the same spot in our flower bed by the porch every couple of years.
The dogs will start barking and going nuts and when I go out to check what's up there he is.
Once I get the dogs calmed down, he goes along his way again.
I call him our security terrapin. He's always makin his rounds, helpin keep an eye on the place.

No! We don’t eat the turtles. Good gravy! They are dinosaurs. Leave them alone.

My only problem with eating turtles is trying to figure out which Wine pairs best.

It’s the classic Red vs White conflict.

You can’t go wrong with either a dry crisp, chilled Sauvignon Blanc… or a light, delicate Pinot Noir retrieved straight from your cellar at room temperature.

If ever you can’t ultimately make the choice between the two of those options?…

…you can easily substitute somewhere between 2 and 10 Natty Lights to wash it down to sufficiently balance & satisfy your palate.

EXACTLY!!

Grits?…with your “handle” so closely associated to one of the most beloved & fundamental staples of “Southern Cuisine”…I gotta ask?

Preferred Turtle Stew side dish:

Red Beans & Rice ?

OR ??

Cornbread & Collard Greens?

(Keep in mind, there is no wrong answer to this question)

Answer me this:

If we shouldn’t eat turtles?…then how come they’re one of the few potential food sources that make such a damn good stew that ALSO…. not coincidentally…come with their OWN bowls ??

Why not both?

My triangle people would go with beans and rice while my hill people will go with cornbread and greens.

The most important question is vinegar or no vinegar?

My grandma did. My grandpa put it on everything. This is one of the MANY reasons I thought he couldn’t taste food and the spicy hot was the only thing he could taste.
