Scotch im still enjoying the Johnny Walker Blue

While expensive it is still blended crap. If you are going down you might as well drink something worth the effort.

Not scotch since it's made in India, but the Amrut single malts are as good as anything out there

The Japanese single malts are my favorite, but they can be hard to find.

I enjoy looking for high end whiskey these days, just for a taste. I'm not spending $500 -$2000 on a bottle of anything. I had a $25 drink of Pappy Van Winkel with a single ice cube last month. Maybe the best booze I've ever tasted. Basil Hayden is in my wheelhouse right now.

Beer is beer, to me. Crawfish season is my beer season

Pappy is really good. I need to look out for Amrut.

I get the beer is beer thing...but especially nowdays saying beer is beer is like saying whiskey is whiskey and if youre drinking Pappy you know that not to be the case

You're right and I wish I had a more discerning palate for beer. With kids I don't have the time to really investigate different beers anymore. I can taste a few whiskeys at night after everybody goes to bed

If you like the smokiness of mezcal, see if you like more peaty Islay scotches like Laphroig.

It also might solve the problem of your girl getting into your scotch as it is a much more polarizing flavor than Johnny Walker.

My wife loves mezcal as well, but Islay scotches are too much for her.
