I am looking at something and here are 5 for KY
Papa John's guy
Cut rate tobacco guy (and Top 10 landowner in USA)
Gaylord holdings (Opryland) sister so FEMALE
Public Storage guy
Public Storage daughter so FEMALE - says she lives on Spendthrift Farm (which is Lexington) but they call it a ranch and says it is Louisville
I can think of at least 5 more not listed, 1 who calls Woodford County home. 1 in Louisville. 1 in Bowling Green.

Since you are old think of lots of dope growing on a certain farm years back that was never prosecuted. Not even sure if it made the news.

I'm surprised no distillers made the list.
The last time I was in Kentucky, I saw no tobacco.

Missouri has 7.....
Once again top tier in the SEC....
....and I'm not even counting Sam Walton's daughter, Bill Laurie, or Stan Kroenke....that would make 10

I’m in Texas and we’ve got a ton of them, mostly clustered around Dallas, Austin, and Houston. Honestly half the time the official lists miss someone because their wealth is tied up in private companies or they keep a low profile. Wouldn’t be surprised if Louisiana’s count is off too.

Mississippi lists 2-3 depending if you count The Oprah or not.
The other two are the Duff brothers.

Oklahoma got a huge influx of cash during the oil boom.
My favorite story is the late G.D. Spradlin.
Spradlin was one of those supremely intelligent guys you meet every now and then, and picked up a law degree (fairly easily I'd suspect). Back then lawyers in Oklahoma weren't particularly well paid so Spradlin went into what was a very niche field in Oklahoma at the time. Oil and mineral rights.
Moved to Venezuela (then enjoying its big oil boom) and while he was down there he got the idea of trying his hand at the oil business in Oklahoma since he knew the state had oil deposits.
Fast forward a few years and Spradlin had made a non-small fortune. He was rich enough to do what he had always wanted... which turned out to be acting. He never lost his Oklahoma drawl, and had a fantastic career as an actor.
You gotta love someone who made a ton of money and then said, "well, I've got more than enough, I'm going to do what I've always wanted to do for the rest of my life."

Consider the Senior Partner and real brains behind what became thew powerful Standard Oil Trust.
Harkness family from Ohio / Kentucky put up the dough. Some current. generations call CKY and EKY home today.
Henry Flagler was the Senior Partner and brains, and when he stepped away spent the rest of his life growing the USA (and especially the state of Florida) but would allow no media / press / history of his largess to go public. The immigration / farming / railroad / churches / schools / communities / etc / etc were not permitted to name anything after him or his people
John D Rockefeller was the Junior Partner and accountant. He would claim the press and fame but it was never truly deserved.

He was great in a small part in Ed Wood as one of the Baptists who regrets giving Ed Wood money to make a blasphemous movie about grave robbers from space.
