It's not that great, but it's not that bad. If you've ever been to Montgomery or Macon, it's kinda like them. Average sized city. Not too exciting, but really not as bad as people are going to make it out to be

Renaissance shopping area has a few eats in five guys, pf changs, Ruth's Chris and a local spot mint among a few others.
In Ridgeland you'll have the obvious BWW and a local good spot Burgers & Blues if looking for lots of tv screens. The outside patio at b&b is a nice spot and they have a pretty good selection of beers.
Some spots in Jackson and Ridgland that are a bit nicer you could try are Char, Nicks, Walkers, Babalu, Bravo, Julep, Tico's or Amerigo. All but walkers have a good bar to eat at if by yourself.
Try the Cherokee, Thai house, Sakura Bana, keifers for more casual places

Be ready to buy a new car when you leave.. Potholes will kill a car in downtown jackson..

Kiefers for lunch. Get the gyro with grilled feta and thank me later. For dinner I say either amerigo, jaco's tacos, or walkers

Keifers is the only decent thing about Jackson.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I'll definitely check out Kiefers, and B&B sounds like where I'm headed for the Carolina game on Thursday.
