I usually don't pay attention to these stories because there are just too many of them, they're over played, and they don't end well but this one has my attention.

Barron is a small city (population of 3k) and county seat of Barron county Wisconsin, a rural and mostly farm county in northwest Wisconsin. I grew up near another town in the county but I'm pretty familiar with Barron, it's a sleepy place where life revolves around a large Turkey processing plant. In the 90s a ton of Somali immigrants were brought to the area and they've never assimilated but other than that the town isn't very interesting. It has very little crime:

Yesterday the town had its first murders in almost two decades when James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46 were found dead from gunshot wounds in their home. Their daughter, 13-year-old Jayme, is missing. There's been an amber alert and she may have been spotted as far away as Miami.

This is pretty far removed from most of you on the board but I find it pretty interesting. Stuff like this doesn't happen here. It's fricking wild. People are really worked up about it.

I was just reading about this a few minutes before I saw your thread. The tip from Miami doesn't seem likely IMO.

There are really nice small towns where nothing bad ever seems to happen. Until it does and because its so rare it seems even more horrible. This seems like a particularly horrific crime.

Had the first murder trial for my county a year ago.

I sure y’all find this young lady. That’s horrible. When that crap hits close to home it really makes you aware of everything around you
Hope they solve this soon.
Prayers sent.

There was a lot of buzz about two hours ago about Rice Lake cops (biggest city in the county) surrounding a house with guns drawn. My grandfather lives there but he's asleep so I didn't bother calling. Not sure what it was about. Guns drawn in RL would be a rare occurrence too.

So who is believed to have killed the parents?

No idea, I don't even want to speculate.

I'm a crime show addict and my guesses are, in no particular order:

1. A man who has been stalking the 13-year-old;

2. The older boyfriend of the 13-year-old;

3. A home invasion that went bad and the 13-year-old was a serendipitous find; or,

4. The 13-year-old is a psycho who butchered her parents because they said no.

Her FB site just shows a little girl who was having a great life. I think 2 and 4 can be eliminated.

Im sorry I did not mean to say that, but I live in small community and have seen girls like this. It is very sad and I hope she is alright.

Again, I did not mean to offend anyone in that and was not trying to get a laugh. Sorry to offend you.

I’d probably go with 1. Most criminals don’t just find someone and kidnap them. This sounds targeted.

But hell, it’s all speculation right now. I just hope and pray they find her soon and that she is safe.

That's what I meant from my deleted post. I believe it would be someone close. Again KSG, wasn't my finest post and I'm sorry I went where I did. Hope you understand that when you're ready.

More likely than not it is someone close, someone who has had contact with the child or someone who has been stalking the child. These things aren’t random-usually.

Yeah I made my first comment based off of my experience with the Hailey Owens murder in Springfield, MO. It's so sad and I despise the mother because I feel like she's part of why/knows.

It sickens me that people do this stuff to someone in their circle.

The Hailey Owens case seemed to be the rare stranger abduction.
