Cliffs: Food industry is in it simply to make money and are killing us due to a lack of transparency and oversight.

Something like that.

It's a bit hyperbolic but not too far from the truth.

Ignorance is bliss when it comes to food and where it comes from and how it's made.

Yup.

Although it's still fun to watch some folks get wrapped up in them

Drac S. was tripping over some anti-fox news documentary on the poli board the other day and I was entertained

Yeah I have an uncle that makes additaves for the food industry. It ain't pretty. At least he switched to developing organic ways to preserve stuff in his later years.

I haven't seen it but heard that they blast Tyson in it. They're one of the worst offenders of shady shite when it comes to meat production.

The key is to try to buy local when you can so you know where it's coming from. Love the farmer's markets we have here and a lot of the smaller groceries have gotten to where they carry a lot of Kentucky-based products too.

Farmers markets are the best.

Also, in grocery stores, if it's in the inside aisles you should probably steer clear of it.

No regular farmers markets in the Delta and it's a shame. Every now and then, they'll have one downtown on a Saturday morning.

That blows my mind honestly. Especially given that the Delta is a farming region.

In the summer, I get a lot of my vegetables from my own garden. It gets a little tricky here in the winter though. I've thought about eating "seasonally" to try to get around that.

That's insane. Isn't the Delta huge for farming? That area could really benefit from one.

There are a ton of them here in Atlanta along with a huge market with fresh fruit, veggies, meat, and seafood that is open every day.
