Who/what taught you the earth is flat and how did they/the internet convince you of this? It's mind boggling to me

I saw something on Flat Earthers on FB the other day. Didn't even know that was a thing. They got a conference in NC and everything.

Who taught you that the earth was round? Pretty easy to just tell kids something

Same here. I think they fall into 3 groups:
Trolls who want to make others jump through hoops for the hell of it. I'd like to believe this is the majority.
Biblical-inerrancy believers who have misinterpreted what the Bible says, or had drivel spoon-fed to them.
Wackos. Fake moon landings, 9/11 coverup, Elvis is alive. All the same mindset.

Isaiah 40:22 says: "It is He who sits above the sphere of the Earth."
The Bible is clear on this matter.

Elvis is dead. Moon landing was probably the easiest thing to fake and for good reason, and no one has ever seen the curvature of the earth.

I'm NOT trying to argue with you, but the FE'ers in the 2nd group probably get some of their ammo from
To most rational people "four corners" is clearly an idiom, but we're not talking about rational people.
Which to me is just some bullshite from an uneducated writer trying to express that "The tree was really tall."
There are others (see here if interested), but I think the people latching onto these are the same ones insisting Earth is 6000 years old.
quote:
Revelations 7:1
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree.
Isaiah 11:2
He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah
from the four corners of the earth.

The tree grew and became strong, and its top reached to heaven, and it was visible to the end of the whole earth.

I actually grew up as a sphere-sheeple but I got redpilled a few years ago.
The truth is it's more of a disk.

Correct. The sun and moon are above it and do perpendicular circles.

What is that edge like? Kind of a steep dropoff, ain't it?
Posted on 1/3/18 at 8:26 pm to finestfirst79
Not really, that's where the ice walls or "Glaciers" keep the edges from being a problem.

As a Christian, I'm definately not in the FE camp. Common sense tells us when we observe the solar system, the moon and the planets are spheres. Given enough mass celestial bodies pull themselves into spheres or globes.
The four corners of the earth are directional references: N,E,S,W.
I don't believe the Earth is 6,000 years old. I also don't believe science can give us an accurate age for the planet...only a best guess.

Go outside your house and look north, do you see mountains?
Posted on 1/3/18 at 10:26 pm to JamalSanders
Why would I be able to see mountains looking north?
