It's certainly possible, and there are also circumstances that don't allow them to post even if they wanted to.
I guess my momma raised me where if I had posted here for six years or whatever and made some friends, I might at least have the common decency to show up one day and tell everyone I had decided to take a break, or that they should frick off, or something.
Maybe some people just like an air of mystery. Or they get kidnapped. Or drop dead.

I agree with this. However, almost everytime I've seen it in the past, I had no idea who the guy was and thought that's pretty conceited of him to think anyone would even care.
