I hate Christmas music too btw. If it’s so great why don’t we listen to it year round? Nothing irks me more than when our dept changes the playlist to Christmas music for over a month.

Decorations?! Oh brother. I’d rather have a root canal than put up or take down a damn Christmas tree or lights.

The stress of the season can become overwhelming.

Interpersonal contacts and communications with family and friends tend to wear on people's good nature, until sometimes resentment... and of course later guilt weigh down the spirit.

If it was simple like when we'd hide in the bushes and pelt our cousins with snowballs, Christmas would be grand again !

I wouldn't say I hate Christmas, but I'm not a fan.

What I don't like is family rehashing old family issues. Christmas is also my birthday so I don't need to hear all that

Christmas morning with kids and now grandkids I absolutely love, favorite day of the year. Love the music, the food and the fun with kids. Love the reason for the season and a good Christmas chorale. Love the lights that go up around town, and get a kick out of taking my grandkids out to see them on a brisk clear night.

All the peripheral gatherings, extended families, out of town kin, work, Sunday school class and any other gathering someone can dream up is a complete PITA (pain in the arse) and I hate them, and avoid them when I can.

My favorite holiday is Memorial Day because it’s always one set day and I have a 3 day weekend.
Middle of the week Christmas is a huge pain in the arse.
Love the holiday just because of all the countless holiday parties.
But nothing really slows down so we end up just doing everything hungover.
I also prefer the food on thanksgiving.
Will admit this city is fricking awesome during Christmas time. The trees, decorations, shows it amazing

Did you not go to college?

Halloween is the greatest college holiday. Dress up, get trashed and even the conservative girls are showing their arse and tits.

I legitimately feel bad for people who have issues this time of year. Some are self-induced, some are not. Regardless, being miserable this time of year would just suck when you consider that you are SUPPOSED to be just the opposite.

Family issues are the place where I have the hardest time relating. I've been unemployed at Christmas and family was the refuge. Both Mrs. Zwin and I have family backgrounds where it would have been easy for drama and cynicism to take root, but it just wasn't allowed to.

We also have never looked at the commercial side of it as more than just a way to show someone you paid attention to them. Stuff for the sake of stuff doesn't really happen.

It would really suck to feel trapped in a time like this if you can't get yourself into a better frame for it.

shite really?
I got a younger brother who post college didn't have a job and Christmas dinner was absolute torture for him.
Guess the same was for Thanksgiving too.

But to be honest that was his own damn fault. He had some good shite lined up and didn't take it.

Most of it I like. One thing I do hate is the pull between families after you get married to spend adequate time with each. When you throw a spouse's siblings and their in-laws into the mix, it makes it even more stressful. Living close to both sides probably doesn't help, but it caused many arguments with my wife our first few years of marriage.

I also hate how early the season starts. Christmas doesnt really start in my book until after Thanksgiving. And even then is a little too early. But from 12/23 through New Year's Day is one of my favorite times of the year. Now that I have kids, I especially love the week after Christmas once all the parties and get together are done and I can be home with them and watch them enjoy their gifts.

I have a feeling you thought the easy girls were conservative.

No I'm just saying any fraternity mixer with a theme girls dressed like they did on Halloween.

I'd prefer not the conservative girls, because normally they were the more religious ones.

I don't hate Christmas, but it is depressing for me. My father died a week before Christmas when I was 8, my mother had passed away 3 years earlier. So seeing everyone with their seemingly perfect families having seemingly perfect family holidays made me angry as a child. I love having my kids home, loved it when they were little, but i could give it a hard pass now. Thanksgiving is a much better holiday.
