Crossfit makes women hot and men skinny. If you want to shredded as a man, then you're a lot better off going with a traditional weight lifting routine. Crossfit's problem is that it only rarely incorporates actual lifting and when it does it's complex lifts that require correct form so that you both don't injure yourself and properly work out the correct muscles. Also, if you're concentrating on speed rather than form, you're doing it wrong.

I am fit and tone. Now, I want more... but, it's VERY hard for women to get that "manly" look. Most of us just look fit and defined.

Crossfit on the Plains?
Yup. I am a member. Really good place and what I set my standard at. I have traveled a lot and seen good places all over but ConthePlains is pretty darn good and stacks up well.

I'd advise trying to get as much as you can and do it from home, the crossfit gyms seem to be kinda cultish... but I'm not a big gym guy to begin with...
If you ask any owner, they will tell you that only 5-10% are cultish. They are annoying as shite though so that small percentage may be annoying enough to keep you out of the gym.
That said, I agree that working out at home is the best if you can get proper equipment and know what you are doing. I would still highly recommend finding an local olympic lifting facitility or a qualified OLifting instructor (whether oat a crossfit or elsewhere) to teach you how to Olympic Lift. Poor coaching at Crossfits or absent at a home gym is how the majority of crossfit people get herniated discs (aka my dumbass brother in law)

I don't see much of the "cult", but competing gyms can become vicious bitch fights. It's insane.
And the amount of lesbians. whoa.

The people who live and breath crossfit. All they do is hangout at the box, talk about how great crossfit is and hate on everything else and they talk about the crossfit games athletes and how great they are and their latest absurd PRs.
Every pretty big gym has those people. My girlfriend is sort of one.

The affiliate model is brilliant due to the ability to build niche atmospheres that cater to their clientele and I like it a lot. That said, they need to stop pumping out level 1 certifcations or start requiring something more to own a box. The amount of people opening boxes and then unreasonably undercutting other boxes while giving shitty products is absurd. That is where yous ee all those shitty crossfit gifs and horror stories. Crossfit just makes a shiton of money off those so they won't stop. (1000$/person x 70 people *25 classes/week * 52 weeks= 91mill$/year)

okay, well I don't call that a cult. I call that me and i'm normal.
My training has taken over my life and most of my friends now are those who are just as obsessed. I can't even date anyone who isn't serious. Especially about their diet.
I do keep up with quite a few bodybuilders and fitness models. It does change your mind set. VS model type bodies are no longer what I consider to be THE sexiest body. They just look weak as shite to me now.

That I can agree with. Gotta find one that works for you.

Ya. Scares me though that people don't understand that Crossfit is not a franchise modeled fitness operation so they don't understand that Crossfit Scottsdale in Arizona is completely different than Crossfit Birmingham in Alabama.
The problem is magnified when people drop by boxes with underqualified training staff and poor business practicies, especially if it is just because they offer cheap membership to offset shitty product.
Primary reason there are so many misconceptions. That and kipping pullups
