This is a sad day for me, gentleman.
After a great run that started Oct 9, 2014, "The Shark" is no more. It seems longer than 2014, because throughout the majority of 2013, 106.5FM would play "Sunday at the Nineties," offering a lot of classic 90's Alternative songs the entire day on Sunday. On May 3, 2015, "The Shark" switched frequencies, from 106-5 to 94-7, but that was short-lived, as "The Shark" came back to 106-5 on July 22.
The alt-rock station that I hold close to my heart has flipped to a Christian musical format of some sort. I listened for about 30 minutes, and the station did not ID itself at the bottom of the hour (illegal), nor did it offer a moniker, it only claimed "106-5." The FM text that I saw on my car radio screen was "Nexus" followed by "Broadcast" and "Roadcast" (Roadcast was probably meant to be typed Broadcast but someone did not type the letter B). I also saw "Audio Stereo Processor mod.NSP01 in the text as well.
KYRK's reception is better than radio-locator gives it credit for, as you can hear KYRK terrestrially as far west as Los Angeles, TX (near Cotulla) and as far east as Victoria. To the south, I've heard KYRK's signal reach somewhere in between Falfurrias and Linn.
I will play 106 non-stop minutes of alternative to honor a station I will never forget, 106-5...The Shark.
Go ahead and file The Shark with The Edge (Dallas), The Tiger (Baton Rouge), 103-9 The X (Aggieland), 104-9 (Baton Rouge) The End (New Orleans), and all the other alternative stations that have fallen in recent years.

El Campo eh, I always enjoy stopping at Prasek's on my way to CC from Houston. Their food and general atmosphere beats the hell out of the Buckees 20 minutes before it.
