Happens about once a month to me here in Kansas with flyers probably every other week.

When I lived in Atlanta it was nearly a weekly occurrence.

I've only had Mormons come by once. The worst offenders are Baptists, Pentecostals/Free-Evangelicals and of course Jehovah's witnesses.

Happened with some frequency out in Ascension. A couple of times a year. Haven't seen it in Baton Rouge.

I took the idea from the priest of my church growing up. They knocked on his door and saw he was a priest. He invited them in and talked for an hour. No need to be an a-hole to em.

It always is. People who don't like to engage different ideas are missing some of the greatest joys in life.

I actually told the new mrs. HBT i would consider going with her to church more just because I actually enjoy the story. I also like another reason to dress nicely. Then I figured it could have some worth while networking for future business.

I understand where you're coming from. I think when you genuinely care about people more than you care about converting people, you get it right more often than not.

But yeah, some people suck.

Go to the right churches for networking, but there are few better places for that in the South.

I figure healing place is a good network if you want to just rip dumb people of their money She is methodist though and we went to the church downtown for easter. I was impressed by it, and saw two people in seersucker suits which reminded me that I need one

I've got to get a seersucker myself. It's part of being a proper southerner.

A church downtown is where you want to do it. Look at the cars in the parking lot and you'll know you're in the right place.

I go to church with my wife although I'm not a 100% believer in the Bible or the Episcopalian faith. I've talked several times with the pastor there about my doubts with the Bible and he's always been very open to those discussions, and never pressured or questioned why I don't believe. I dig that hands-off appraoch and welcoming attitude he exudes.

I'm actually confirmed catholic, I like the power and history of it compared to the baptist I also told her that if she was Baptist no way in hell she would be dragging me to church but since Methodist is a offshoot of catholic id at least sit through some with her. I can ignore the songs and what not and just enjoy the sermons

I need a seersucker suit and a seersucker bathing suit. It just doesn't feel right not having them

If you want to get technical all Protestants are offshoots of Catholicism.

Yeah I grew up Catholic and was confirmed in the Catholic church. Wife grew up Episcopalian, and I enjoyed it a lot more than the Catholic church. I actually went through the confirmation process in the Episcopalian church just before our firstborn came along.

this is true but methodist seem to just have had made a few simple tweaks, actual tweaks i agree with like letting their priest get married. That would probably cut down on the alter boy rape

If the question was "who's more sane?" There is no doubt methodist and Episcopalians take the cake.

I'm curious as to when it became "wrong" to let your religious convictions affect how you vote and what you do and do not support from a legislative perspective.

I isnt your fault for voting how you choose, it is the governments fault for injecting themselves into marriage and limiting it for some people. The government shouldnt be giving the electorate the opportunity to limit marriage in the first place.

The government cannot force people to worship a certain way or believe in a certain religion. That doesn't mean they can't pass practical laws that are supported by religious opinions and beliefs.

Nothing practical about making homosexual marriage illegal.

Or society has never recognized a "need" for gay marriage until the last 30 or so years. And by society, I mean virtually all cultures throughout time. And by virtually, I mean all recorded cultures.
