1st item that I thought off, I know they put it on everything in Cincinnati, not sure if it made down to Lexington.
Cincinnati chili is Greek chili. Been eating it since I was a kid as it had a strong flavor palette unlike any other chili. My guess is the old stuff used Greek spices from the old world. The 2 "chains" = Gold Star (historically 2nd best) and Skyline (historically 1st place) and their location on Clifton had the brothers who were real live versions of the "Soup Nazi" on Seinfeld. Place had a line around the block at 3am in the morning it was that good!
Sadly both chains have been less about the food and more about MBA's making money so both products are a mere shell of their former quality and atmosphere. Hard to beat a Reds game in my youth with a trip to Skyline and a trip to Graters down the block before a return to the Southern side of the Ohio Ocean. Baseball was a sport but what lacked in excitement in the slow times was more than made up with family bonding time.

Not overrated or underrated. They are delicious, and people know it.
