It's a really efficient German grocery store chain.

They have good quality but you sacrifice choosing between 18 different brands in order to get lower prices

They are like a mini Sam's Club

Until a few years ago they only took cash

Like Sam's Club, the inventory rotates where they get the best deal. They got some French sweets like 10 years ago and have never seen them since.

Upside is, by buying overstock you can get deals, just don't expect it to be restocked.

Upside, also no Sam's Club yearly membership fee (FREE to enter) but bring a quarter for the shopping cart and bring your own bags and boxes to carry stuff home.

Grocery store chain started in Germany.

Brother split the store chain after fathers death, into Aldi North and Aldi South

Aldi North bought Trader Joes and back in 1979. Aldi South owns and runs the US stores.

Great store, have one in my neighborhood.

It's what Publix prices were back in 2019, but most of the food you're buying is not name brand.

You won't recognize most of the brands. They have no bags, bring your own. Do not understand the attraction.

I shop at Aldis every Monday, which is when I do most of my grocery shopping. A lot of their generic stuff sucks diseased moose wang. But... meats, cheeses, and veggies tend to be a bit cheaper. And their generic stuff that is good is often better than brand names. You have to look carefully.

You need a quarter to use a shopping cart (you get it back afterwards), and the store is no frills and no bags.

For staple groceries it is fantastic. For everything else... meh... not so much.

It's that store that people think they're special for going to, where you have to have a quarter to rent a cart (you get the quarter back but you cant take a cart otherwise), you need to bring your own bags for the groceries, and there's way fewer options.

But said people love it because it's slightly cheaper and European.

Other than what everyone else has already mentioned, I'll add that their produce is hit-or-miss but usually cheaper than a typical chain store.

They have some pretty good u-bake pizzas and wine for the price.

And if you don't feel like messing with the cart system or bringing a bag in, find something that's almost gone, take the cardboard display box out (like you'd find at Costco or Sam's), and use it to carry your stuff.

There are also some random websites that highlight good monthly deals, and/or overall tips. Here's one that popped up on a quick search.

I know they have the best pineapple juice I've ever had in my life. It's sold in the refrigerated section, in a paper carton like orange juice. Once you try it, you'll never buy any other brand.
