From where? Carroll County was entirely shutdown earlier this morning for hours. Not sure what the situation is now.
Maybe Mark Arum posts on the board.
EDIT : looks like 20 is still shut down between Bremen and Villa Rica. Fine everywhere else.
285 is still a nightmare all the way around from 75 to 20 on the East side. Disaster.

People were already using Peachtree/Buford Hwy in Brookhaven as "alternates" today, and that was without any school traffic. And now add in the fact that 85S is going to be shut down and replaced as well.
If this truly takes 6-12 months.........holy shite.
Don't worry, Kasim is channeling his inner Coach O and consulting the old Olympic Binders to figure out the best traffic plan. Unfortunately, they can't tell everyone to go to Destin and Hilton Head for a week like they did back then, so I'm not sure how that will help.

Da fuq... The area that collapsed is nowhere near SS. It's near midtown/Cheshire Bridge area... if you know where Grindhouse Burgers on Piedmont is, it's very close to there.
It still may make traffic worse, due to re-routing a lot of traffic onto 285 (which already sucks), but this isn't really "close" to the park.
haha who downvoted you for this, it's 100% accurate.

which is how I planned to get to 20...is that my best bet you think? Was just gonna take Buford Hwy, scoot on around the closure, then hop back on 85 down to 20.

I think it was just a wreck, so I'm sure it'll be gone by then.
As for the alternate route........NO STAY AWAY FROM BROOKHAVEN ALL OF YOU

If you're bringing your arse into Sandy Springs for Braves games, I can damn well use Brookhaven as a passthru. :)

As for 20, man I really don't know. Normally I'd say Clairmont to Ponce or Briarcliff (which turns into Moreland at Ponce) to 20, but I really don't have any idea what all of this will do.
Honestly, I'd probably stay as far north from the closure as possible without getting on 285. Briarcliff/North Druid/Clairmont will all be packed around 85 I'm guessing (and normally are even with 85 working).
I'd probably go Chamblee Tucker to Shallowford to Oak Grove to Clairmont to North Decatur to DeKalb Avenue to 20. Oak Grove is generally pretty clear (and especially will be today with no school so no Lakeside HS to worry about). The backway near Decatur down to DeKalb Avenue was always our go to route to get to 20 and head towards Alabama when I lived in North Decatur.
My wife and kids are heading to the Gulf tonight and my guess is that is how they will try and avoid everything.

It was a crash involving three tractor trailers on 20.

Im a life long Braves fan. Even when they S U C K E D in the 80's. However, I am not a fan of this new stadium for two reasons.
1. The preivous stadium was perfectly good. Only built in 1996. The Ted was a great venue and ATL Braves belong in ATL.
2. This new stadium is in a perfectly shitty spot. The worst traffic in Atlanta happens at I-285 and I-75, Now, 82 times a year, we get douche bag braves traffic to completely frick up the traffic for all innocent commuters and for any unfortunate folks trying to get thru ATL on the way to Florida etc.

Life long Braves fan here too. The Ted was a decent, oversized stadium with a good long range view but in a terrible location. There weren't bars and restaurants and even tailgating sucked because of the shitty neighborhood. It should've been built in a better area to begin with. Of course, now that we've moved, that area will probably start to gentrify.
I'm confused as to why they chose the location they did but its probably because Cobb gave them a better deal than other counties and they felt they could create a new destination area with the performing arts center and galleria there. Anyways, I'm looking forward to checking the place out and actually having a beer and a good meal before the game.

The new stadium looks almost exactly like The Ted from the inside. They could have at least done something unique with it, but nope.
