Dude, the Branson area is as backwards as you are. You'd fit right in.

Branson now has a Paula Deen’s restaurant. We hit it up at Christmas holidays. Not as impressive an establishment as the one in Gatlinburg, but the food was just as tasty. Go hungry.

Thanks for the Big Cedar Lodge recommendation, I posted about it already but in case you didn't see, that's where we're going to stay. We checked it out and it seems perfect for what we need.
I owe you one!
My pleasure man, always happy to help people experience the good things Missouri has to offer. I hope you enjoy your visit!!

I did a little digging and found the Wilderness Resort at Big Cedar Lodge on VRBO. It's a sister property through Bluegreen. They had a room for only $112 per night. Same amenities and everything, although I'll probably have to endure a timeshare pitch, but I can handle it.
We’ve stayed there twice and have enjoyed it both times. You’re on the Big Cedar property and there’s a shuttle that will take you up to the amenities or you can walk it. Assuming you’re coming in warm weather, the walk isn’t bad at all. The timeshare pitch takes a couple of hours so budget appropriately and always say no.
Also, make sure you at least make it up to the Osage Restaurant at Top of the Rock for either a drink or dinner at sundown. You won’t find a better sunset view in the Ozarks than that one. It’s a must see for anyone who stays at Big Cedar.

Billy Gails outside of Branson one morning for breakfast. Take cash. They don’t take cards.
Silver Dollar City is fun, but very hilly with a prego wifey.
Branson Hills Golf Club is a very nice course if you play.
Branson Landing is cool at night with fire and water show.
Go kart tracks and mini golf courses out the arse.
Study side roads. Actually driving down the strip(two lane) sucks arse.
Check out Rocco’s Pizza if your clan likes pizza
Lots of folks like Landry’s Seafood...I’ve never cared for it much. Not terrible but it’s seafood in middle America.

Thatguy45 already has a "How do you deal with getting old" thread. I propose the mods merge these two threads.

Silver Dollar City has legit roller coasters. They partnered with a German company that designs them and they have a new one every other year. This year it's a water raft ride that looks pretty sweet.
When I was a kid Silver Dollar City was pretty hokey, but they have real rides now that are really frickin cool. And they still have little old men making hot corn and playing dulcimers if you're into that stuff.
