Yeah Crazy Cajuns is good too but thought it was too far
There's actually a place in Jasper 10x better than that one but its a drive

Cafe Bottega, or Highlands
This. I'm not a huge fan of Fish Market.
Good People's Brewery is a pretty cool place to hang out and try their beers. Younger crowd there.
Black Market Bar on Highlands is cool if you have a group. J Clydes as well. Kind of tricky to find, but cool little bar.

He's probably laughing because it's spelled Tutwiler
I think y'all will enjoy the Fish Market. Good food, and not outrageously expensive. J Clyde is also the place to go for a nice selection of beer. Right next door is the Blue Monkey (martini and piano bar) and their red velvet martini and chocolate martini are the best in the South (IMO).
If you want a brewery check out Good People, and Avondale. If you venture to the Avondale Brewery, check out the bar across the street, 41st Street Pub and try their Moscow Mule (it's fantastic).
Enjoy your short stay in the Magic (aka Tragic) City

Surprised at The Fish Market recs. I think that place sucks, but to each their own. El Barrio is good, but gets really crowded on Friday nights. Couple of decent spots in Lakeview - Five, Moe's BBQ, and Slice pizza. Slice is kinda overpriced, but it's a cool place. Moe's has outstanding smoked wings.
Come to think of it, every place gets kind of crowded on Friday nights.
Avondale brewery is a cool place, but their beer sucks. Good People or Cahaba have way better beer.

I agree with their beer list, but the food is horrible.

If someone is staying in Birmingham it can't be that far of a drive. Once they eat there they will start to stay in that area just like I do when in Birmingham.

Why go all the way down to Crazy Cajuns when there are plenty of top notch restaurants downtown?

Thanks everyone for the tips. We decided J Clyde for dinner, and then we'll eventually move to Blue Monkey to continue drinking.

I would seriously reconsider eating at j. Clyde. Go for the beer, but eat elsewhere. In my experience, there's at least a 75% chance of getting sick from that place.

Yea I never actually order food there or on tap, strictly beer.

Doesn't the Furnace have a buffet?

Yeah eat at Fish Market or any other restaurant not J.Clyde it's just great beer selection

Go to the Cheesecake Factory on 280. It's a ten minute drive from downtown Birmingham, depending on traffic. If you have never ate at one then it will be a great experience. Huge menu and medium price range. Reasonably expect to spend $25 for yourself.

There are much better places than cheescake factory just downtown.

I live in Jasper. What place are you referring too?
Blzr, I never really enjoyed many of the spots downtown. The only place I really spent much time at was the pizza joint by the purple onion, near 5 points.

Chez Fon Fon is a good French restaurant too but it's small so sometimes there is a wait
It is 100% worth the wait.
