Why would you live in Tennessee when you could live in Kentucky?

I’ve lived in Maryville since 1973, it’s still a great town but it’s getting to crowded for me. It hasn’t had a small town feel since the late 80’s. Lots of jobs to be had with more coming in, Smith and Wesson and Amazon.

Housing market right now is tough but you should still be able to find something decent in the 400k range. If you look a little further south to Monroe county housing and land should be a little cheaper while still staying close to the mountains. GSMNP gets all the love but the Cherokee National Forest is full of hidden gems and never really crowded

They can also look North of Knoxville, towards the Cumberland Gap. Anderson and Campbell Counties are really beautiful near Norris Lake...but schools and jobs are much better on the Anderson County side.

I appreciate the responses, we are planning to drive up to look around at different parts of the state while the kids are out of school for Mardi Gras break.

Depends on how much money you have to spend. Rutherford has always been good, but it has been growing non-stop for over 15 years. Murfreesboro continues to explode. I wouldn't want to live there now.

You asked about Chattanooga. Within 30-45 minutes of Chattanooga there are some very nice mountaintop communities...Sewanee, Monteagle, and others. Some have good schools...there are also excellent private schools like St. Andrews-Sewanee.

Don't know about the schools, but if I were to be contemplating moving back to the USA Maryville would be at the top of my list.

According to US News, Maryville High School is the 3rd best school in the Greater Knoxville area, 23rd in Tennessee.

If you like football, their football team has won 17 state championships, including 13 (and 4 runner-ups) since 2000.

My neighborhood (in Franklin) has jumped from average $620k to $800k in the past year alone. Average 3,000 sf. The house referenced above is probably in in the downtown area.

We have just decided to stay put for now. Interest rates are going up and I'm not about to start getting into bidding wars. I guess we will have to stay in Louisiana for a while longer unfortunately.

You will not win a bidding war with these cali people. They’ll outbid you 150k cash easily.

I hope you find your way here eventually. I’ve come to know lots of Louisiana transplants since Katrina that have found their way to East to. Fine people all around.

Are we talking about the same Jonathan's? Not just brand but location.

The Cool Springs location is where I meet up with a former LSU pitcher who prefers this location.

But hey, to each his own.
