Where in Wisconsin? Around Duluth? I was in Rice Lake all day. Fried chicken is going to be hard to come by, you don’t go in that area looking for chicken but if you have to there’s a KFC in RL and Bruce used to have the Chicken Coop that was pretty good but it closed.
I live in Duluth, but I am in Rhinelander this week. Food, in general, is just blah up here. Even the locals admit it. I like the cold weather, and scenery is nice. Food sucks.

Lol you’re quite close to me. I highly doubt the locals think their food is bad, they’re probably just being polite to someone who is being a bit obnoxious. What I can guarantee is that if you’re making it known you think that the area’s food is bad then the people you’re whining to think you’re an arse, that’d be true anywhere.
Most towns in Wisconsin have a Supper Club, I know Rhinelander does. Hit it up. You’re complaining about it on a Friday, did you go to a fish fry? Also this time of year on the weekends many churches are doing banquets of some kind with Scandinavian food that are open to the public so you could try that, just find a Lutheran Church.
If you don’t like it then stop complaining and just go back to Minnesota, we don’t need more Mud Ducks here anyhow.

What is Scandanavian food?
My mom’s mom’s family is from Wisconsin and we eat kringle every Christmas, which I guess is Dutch and not Scandanavian.

Lefse, Lutfisk, and an assortment of pies come to mind. Also lots of rutabagas and potatoes. I'm not a fan but it is unique.

Looks pretty American. I was expecting cod livers and reindeer innards.
They call their tortillas lefses.

Yea it's watered down and mainstream like many "ethnic" places.
Wouldn't surprise me if this were an actual dish. I'm a quarter swede and very close to that part of my family but I really don't like the food.

The Churches in Selma Al never stopes cooking. It is hot and fresh. The ladies who work there know how to cook fried chicken.

I’m overstating things on this board. I think I’m more politically correct in real life.
It’s not really that the food is bad. A good friend owns a pizza joint that is really good, and we are there all the time.
In my company, I’m known for how much I crave the meat loaf a local place serves on Thursday.
Meat. Loaf. It’s a really good meat loaf, though.
The issue is really the lack of variety and general lack of big flavors. Lots of meat and potatoes. Even the locals complain about a lack of decent Mexican or BBQ.
Point taken, though, and I will be more careful about my venting.

No, need. It’s the internet and you’re fine, you just triggered my irrational hate for Minnesota for some reason. Your assessment is fair, there isn’t a huge variety.

I should say, for the record, while you can't find good fried chicken in Wisconsin you can find a lot of good food up there. A Wisconsin fish fry is darn good eats and I love the brats up there. Not to mention you have great cheese with everything.
There is also some very good Greek food in Milwaukee, or at least there was when I was up there last 25 some odd years ago.
Wisconsin food is very Nordic, very filling, and very good.

Frenchys. A local chain in Houston is the best in the nation, trust me.

Did a fish fry Friday night. They are indeed good stuff. Makes me miss a good catfish dinner with hush puppies.
I think that’s part of my problem. I sometimes don’t appreciate what I do have because I miss what I don’t have. Haven’t lived in Texas for almost 10 years. Last time I had a reliably decent Mexican option was a place in Beijing. Singapore had effectively zero options. I still loved all the Asian options I had, but I do miss Texas food.
