The best two places I have been to are:
Melvins, in Mt. Pleasant, SC (discovered it on our honeymoon in Charleston and it was on our must do list when we went back this spring) and
Fresh Air in Jackson, GA (all they have is pulled pork and Brunswick Stew but damn is it good. Been in that one location since the 1920s.)

I also really like Sprayberry's in Newnan, GA. The Lewis Grizzard Special (pulled pork sandwich, Brunswick sew and onion rings) is my go to there when we stop going to/from Auburn.

I have heard good things about Bone Lick in NW Atlanta and Sweatman's in Holly Hill, SC. I want to try both of them, but the downside is Sweatman's is only open on Fridays and Saturdays.

I would go with BBQ Shop

I'm a huge pork BBQ snob... Had ribs for lunch there again today... Best in the country.

When I had a pulled pork sandwich there it was really dry... Every restaurant has their bad days so I guess I need to eat there again soon... Best banana pudding I've ever had though.

Franklin BBQ (Austin, TX)
Just another reason I miss Texas. (Plus SaltLick in Driftwood, Louie Mueller in Taylor, Kruetz Market and Smittys in Lockhart. ALL within a few miles of each other.

I was not very impressed with Bone Lick.

I have heard great things about Heirloom Market BBQ.

Never heard of Fresh Air or Sprayberry....will have to put those on the list of restaurants to try.
