Rate around here was $10 per hour, but we haven't had to use one in a couple of years. It may have gone up since then, but I doubt it. We usually did $15 per hour if we needed them to watch both kids. If just one, it was $10 per hour.
We had one steal my post-surgery pain pills once. First night I had gotten out since surgery, and come home to find the pill bottle empty. Texted her asking about it and got no response. Texted back saying if I didn't get them back I was going to call her dad. She immediately called after that text, crying and apologizing and brought them back. Said her boyfriend convinced her to take them for him. Obviously never used her again.

They get their food paid for, they take our other vehicle, we pay for entrance to movies or pool for them. Have also told them they can have a friend stop by or boyfriend. It's pretty cake, take my kids to run around and be engaged instead of dealing with shite head kids on tablets or confined to my home.
I would post pictures, but I expect their integrity, so I'll keep mine in tact for not posting their pics. Usually I wouldn't care, but also as a father, I wouldn't want some dude putting pictures of my 18 year old daughter online to be seen. I'm not that sleezy.

$15 an hour is about the rate now. $35 for 2 hours is about right.

Wow, just wow
Have not needed a sitter for a while, as we have an 18 and 15 year old, but that is crazy fricked up, and unfortunately, not too surprising
I was really lucky with this, when I moved to Bham with my newborn, I found the Samford babysitter list (they do not do that anymore...) - always stellar kids with impeccable references
After I got married, it was really easy for us, wife grew up here and was (is) a teacher (8th grade) in a good area of town
She knew who to call and also knew who the kids were that could be trusted

The Wyndy App replaced the Samford list. So far, no complaints, though.
