Mine wasn't allowed to have a cell phone until she was in the middle of 8th grade and didn't have social media until junior year.

It's awesome (not limited to TD) that a law requires a BS checkbox "Are your 13 or older, or do you have parental permission to sign up," and the FTC goes hardcore, everywhere else.
Teenagers and even young adults do not need to engage with adults this way. They're not prepared to deal with sarcasm, humor, irony, deception, lies, etc., from people that seem to be at least 20 years older than a teen would be.
