I'm assuming it is like the only person I know that still pays for AOL... my grandmother. She got it 10+ years ago, and pays for it even though she doesn't use it.

It's been a pain in the rear getting my iPad to connect to my 56k dial up modem.

My parents live way out in the mountains in a very remote area of Arkansas and they have DSL.
Its so country that I grew up with a party-line phone.
I don't know anybody still on dial up. Maybe that is global?

Don't be acting all like Tennessee is any different!
but seriously tho, you riiiite. also, there used to be a WAOL... and it did stand for west alabama online. it pre-dated AOL, because it was a local bulletin board with sysops and awesome file downloads, and cool junk and stuff. if you're about my age, you'll think of that type of "internet" very fondly.
i miss the days of punt wars, and mail bombs and using my buddys' programs that were superior to any firetoolz or whatever else was out there i don't remember the names to.
gettin old, bob. gettin old.

Many rural areas in the USA still do not have access to high speed Internet, so dial up is their only alternative, albeit a bad one.

I still have and use on a daily basis my old aol email address. But I sure as hell don't pay for it

Not if they live where they can see the sky.

I now a lady from work that has dial up. She says everyone else is on cable so the dial up moves pretty fast for her.

My parents house didn't get high speed Internet until a year ago. Even now they can only get AT&T basic dsl. They were using dial up until two years ago, when they got satellite Internet. Which is even shittier.

I can't imagine anyone under 70 still having AOL.
