It's not hard to repeat "You want fries with that". Just takes a little memory power and fortitude. You'll get it.

I'm fully convinced my resume is what got me to where I am, but I've been told I'm a good interview even though I hate them. Main goal for me was to just not come off as weird. Preparation is the key. Good on you for doing it.

It is amazing to me how many people fly into interviews by the seat of their pants, hoping that their charming personalities and ability to recollect previous job experiences will nail the job interview for them. The vast majority of people perform no research whatsoever, and most of the rest simply visit one or two corporate website pages or read a wikipedia article.

One of the best things you can do is to have a list of 5-8 questions about the company you can ask. When they say "anything else" this is your cue.

- technical questions, including
---what products are made/sold/handled at what locations?
---what are your current technical challenges?
---etc.

- business questions, including
---who are your competitors and what are your business challenges?
---what are your company's guiding management principles and how is this enacted at various locations?
---etc.

- position questions, including
---ask the interviewer to describe a typical day for the person in the position you are interviewing for
---who are the decision makers for deciding who is hired in this position?
---advancement potential - "If I work hard and exceed expectations, what is possible in the future for this position?" (this is NOT an opportunity to discuss benefits, salary, etc)
---of course... ask for the job. Most people don't, believe it or not. "what is the next step and when will I hear about the decision?
---etc

The bottom line is that interviewing is a learned skill, and done properly, could make you additional hundreds of thousands of dollars of salary over your career. Only a moron would not adequately prep for an interview for a job where he/she might potentially work for years.

My company switched to the “behavioral based” interview and they are much better. None of that “can you guess how many windows are in Manhattan” bs
