I started to get them when I was 25 and they lasted until I was 43. They'd come every year at the same time of year. Everyday for 4 to 6 weeks. Sometimes twice a day.

There wasn't anything available when I first started to get them. I'd lay in bed and wish I was dead the pain was that intense.

I used the imitrex nasal spray when they first came out but I had to catch the migraine as soon as I felt it or if still be in for a couple of hours of debilitating pain.

I started using relpax once that came out and it worked better for me than the imitrex.

Believe it or not one of the best things was a balm that a coworker from China gave me.

My brother dealt with that for years before finding out it was foods causing it. White cheese was one of the reasons. A doctor gave him meds that really knocked out the headaches before they discovered it was food. The doctor had him write down everything he ate and drank everyday and the times.

I started getting them about five years ago and they have come and gone ever since. I will get them everyday around the same time, around 2, and they will last for a few hours. After about a week they are gone and don't come back for a year or so. Shite is excruciating and often times I call it a day a short time in. I thought I had a damn tumor or something the first time I got them and just started getting my affairs in order for my exit.

I had them and they were just horrible. Behind my left eye and when they finally "broke" I could actually feel the blood vessels release. They would last 3-4 days. I had various treatments, the best ones were a shot from my family doc that would knock me out for about 12 hours and when I woke, it was gone. He got busted for some seedy shite though, so no telling what he was using.

Imatrex worked some, but most I would just have to ride out. They seemed to stop when I got about 40 years old. Haven't had one in years.

Given your family history, and this statement, you need to see a neurologist.

My referral to the neurologist came through, and my appointment is March 16, 2017 at 2 PM. If you're going to see a neurologist, get that referral ASAP!!!

Lived on Advil for a while. Turns out I couldn't put off getting glasses/contacts any longer. My vision wasn't terrible but the straining my eyes were doing were causing serious hard aches.

You need to see an allergist imo. I had the same problem & thought it might be sinus issues related to allergies.Ive been headache free for 3 the months since I started my shots and meds.
