Batman, Superman, and Spiderman are heroes to many kids.

The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers were my heroes.

I'm a big Zippy fan, but for my money, S. Clay Wilson is the greatest cartoon journalist of all time.

I was always a big Conan The Barbarian (Robert E. Howard) fan. It, the comic book, debuted my sophomore year at Carolina, so 1970 ... and it was a huge hit on campuses all over the country. Conan was, of course best done by Frank Frazetta but the comic books made Barry Smith and John Buscema famous ... for the sultry way they drew the women especially, much like Frazetta.

I had every issue for the first couple of years. Wish I had saved those - they'd be worth some money today. I had a lot of issues from 1970-1985 and gave them away to a friend while living in Italy.
